4-H Youth Development is a nonformal educational youth program, conducted by the University of California Cooperative Extension.
The purpose of 4-H Youth Development is to help diverse young people discover and develop their potential and grow into competent, contributing, and caring citizens. Learn by doing activities, youth-adult partnerships, and research-based educational programs help young people enhance their leadership abilities and develop a wide range of other life skills.
Glenn County maintains a large 4-H program, which includes 10 clubs, 140 adult volunteers and over 435-450 youth. All 4-H leaders are volunteers who give their time to provide leadership and training to youth ranging in age from 5 to 18. Members showcase their talents at the Glenn County Fair, where sheep, goats, rabbits, beef, pigs and chickens are shown and sold. Home Economics and crafts are also represented, and 4-Hers win many ribbons with their projects.
Membership in 4-H is available to any Glenn County youth. Information may be obtained from the Glenn County Cooperative Extension Office at 821 E. South St. in Orland, or by calling (530) 865-1107.

Enrollment deadline for fair participation is the last Monday in September. Enrollment isn't complete until online enrollment is submitted, forms turned in and fees paid by last Monday in September.
